Jackie Robinson/ PeeWee Reese Memorial
KeySpan Park at Coney Island
Brooklyn, NY
Memorial by William Behrends

Jackie Robinson, Pee Wee Reese, and the Dodgers, lead by Branch Rickey are regarded as change agents in American history and the integration in sports. In 1947 during his first season, Jackie Robinson stood on the field in Cincinnati while crowds jeered and threw garbage at him. His teammate, PeeWee Reese who was from a small town in Kentucky, walked over to Robinson and put his arm around him. It was a powerful message of acceptance. This monument honors that moment in American and sports history.
