This memorial designed by Ken Smith, commemorates the memory of the eleven American Express employees that lost their life on September 11th. Eleven tears fall, creating small ripples in an eleven-sided reflecting pool where the names of the American Express employees are memorialized.

One tear for each person will disturb the surface several times a minute. An eleven-sided crystal pendant, is suspended just above the water’s surface by eleven thin silver cables. Remembrances of the eleven, selected by members of their families, are etched into the bottom of the pool and the date, September 11, 2001, lies under the crystal.
